A very durable, smooth paper with no wood content and a classic mottled marble motif.
The name Elefantenhaut directly translates to elephant skin (or “hide”); it relates to the durability of the paper, which is mainly due to the long fibres.
Impregnated using unique technology, it is resistant to scratches and dirtying; it even makes it possible to clean the paper.
These qualities combined make Elefantenhaut a perfect choice for invitations, letters, business and greeting cards, vouchers, coupons, menus, certificates, brochures, tags, high-quality gift wrapping, book covers and any other application where a durable natural material or parchment is required.
The paper is suitable for almost all printers, embossing, UV varnishing and perforation.
“Elephant skin” is popular in origami circles, as it creates volume around the round shapes; it is ideal for the wet folding technique and creating modules and tesselations. It can be folded and unfolded multiple times, and the edges can be straightened, making it ideal for practice.
Elefantenhaut is first created in the 1950s and patented by the German company Reflex GmbH & Co. KG.
The pattern is typical of papers created in Germany during that period.
This paper is manufactured from responsibly managed forests (FSC); it is whitened without chlorine (ECF).
Also available in light beige.
